Our Custom Food Trailer Building Process
Get in touch to share your food business concept and menu plans. We'll discuss equipment options, space requirements, and answer all your questions about what works best for your operation.
Based on our consultation, we'll prepare a detailed quote reflecting your specific needs and equipment selections. When you're satisfied, we'll formalize the agreement to move forward.
Your 50% initial payment locks in your construction timeline and gets the design process started for your custom configuration.
Once under contract, we'll develop a precise two-scale drawing that maps out your equipment positioning and workflow, maximizing efficiency in your mobile kitchen space.
Your trailer build takes approximately 8-9 weeks. We keep you connected to the process with daily photo updates, and you're always welcome to stop by our facility. At the six-week point, we'll collect the second 25% payment.
Before you drive away, we walk through every detail together, showing you how to operate all systems and verifying that everything functions properly. You won't leave until you're completely satisfied. The final 25% is due at this time.
Your relationship with Titan Trucks doesn't end at pickup. We're available whenever you need us—whether you have questions, need advice on marketing your business, or want to stop by. Equipment warranties are included for added peace of mind.
Enhance Your Custom Food Trailer with These Popular Add-Ons
Make your food trailer uniquely yours with these customization options:
- Exterior Lighting Packages: Improve visibility and attract customers during nighttime events and evening hours.
- Multiple Serving Windows: Add extra customer service points to handle higher volume and reduce wait times.
- Professional Vehicle Wraps: Turn your trailer into a mobile billboard with custom graphics and branding.
- Generator Package: We'll help you select the right power solution based on your specific equipment draw.
- Climate Control System: Keep your team comfortable with air conditioning during hot weather operations.
- Strategic Door Configuration: We can position your entry door wherever it makes the most sense for your workflow.
- Triple Axle Upgrade: Increase stability and weight distribution beyond our standard double axle setup.
- Nose Style Selection: Pick between V-nose (angled front) or flat-nose (straight front) trailer designs.
Note: Since every kitchen setup requires different power levels, we quote generators separately after reviewing your equipment list. We can recommend the right size generator and purchase it for you, or you're welcome to source your own. Most customers find our recommended Predator 9500 works well for typical equipment loads.

FAQs About Custom Food Trailers
The main reason entrepreneurs select trailers is affordability—they cost $12,000 to $15,000 less than custom food trucks while offering the exact same kitchen capabilities. You'll need a vehicle to tow it, but many business owners already have a truck or SUV that can handle the job. The kitchen equipment, layout, and functionality are identical to what you'd get in a food truck.
Plan on 8-9 weeks from the day you sign your contract until your trailer is ready for pickup. During construction, we'll keep you updated with photos every day, and you can visit our facility whenever you'd like to check on progress.
Absolutely. We've worked with health departments across the country and understand what they require. While we can't complete your permit applications (they need your personal business information), we'll guide you through every step, answer your questions, and help ensure you're submitting everything correctly.
Yes, we can customize a trailer you provide. We're also available for repair and remodeling work on existing food trailers. The one exception: we don't convert school buses or RVs into food service vehicles.
We've partnered with a third-party financing company that can help qualified applicants. Typical requirements include a 640+ credit score and 10% down payment. Titan Trucks doesn't provide financing directly—all loan arrangements go through our lending partner.
We split payments into three installments: 50% when you sign the contract to start your build, 25% at the six-week construction milestone, and the final 25% when you pick up your completed trailer.
No—and that's intentional. Every food entrepreneur has different equipment needs, menu requirements, and space preferences. Our food trailer builders custom-design each trailer from scratch based on your unique business plan. There are no cookie-cutter options or inventory sitting on our lot.
We stand behind every trailer we build. Equipment comes with manufacturer warranties, and we're here to help with any issues. Beyond that, you get lifetime access to our team for advice, questions, or concerns about your business. Just give us a call or stop by.
Our minimum size is 14 feet, and from there we build in two-foot increments (16', 18', 20', etc.). We've found that anything smaller than 14 feet doesn't provide enough workspace for a functional commercial kitchen.
Standard configuration is double axle, which works well for most operations. If you need extra capacity or stability, we can upgrade to triple axle by request. You'll also choose between flat-nose and V-nose designs—both are popular, and it comes down to personal preference and aesthetics.
This is purely preference. V-nose trailers have an angled front (like a wedge), while flat-nose trailers have a straight vertical front wall. Some people prefer the aerodynamics and look of V-nose, while others like the traditional appearance of flat-nose. Both are equally functional—it's about what appeals to you.
A fully equipped trailer typically weighs around 5,500 pounds. To put that in perspective, most half-ton pickup trucks (like a Ford F-150) can tow 10,000 pounds, so you shouldn't have trouble finding a suitable tow vehicle.
Yes, every trailer we build meets DOT compliance standards for highway travel. You can legally tow your trailer anywhere in the United States.
